Given the increasing
vulnerability of women and girls to HIV/AIDS infection
and the critical need for policy makers and
practitioners to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic from a
gender perspective, we have prepared this directory of
resources to specifically address the needs of women.
Included in this pack
are a list of free resources culled from organizations
working on gender and HIV/AIDS as well as selected
relevant books available for purchase through this
website. The resources and tools in this directory
address the complexity of women's vulnerability to HIV
infection, including the need for a gender-based
approach to HIV/AIDS; to protect the rights of young
women and girls; to promote a gender- based approach
to prevention and care; to guarantee sexual and
reproductive health rights; to support empowerment and
leadership for women living with HIV/AIDS; to
eliminate violence against women; and to ensure
women's economic rights.
