How
we started
Women, Ink
now has a long-standing tradition in disseminating
information to individuals, women's organizations
and community groups. Since 1992, we have been
serving a diverse group of academics, activists and
development practitioners. Our extensive collection
is used not only to keep abreast of the newest
publications about gender, women and development,
but also to explore and grasp the varied realities
and voices of women from the Global South - be it
for research and/or for projects on the
ground.
We started with a
small collection of only 22 books from the United
Nations Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and, over the
years, have been steadily growing to become a
'one-stop-shop' for books on women and development
. Of the over 230 books from 70 publishers
worldwide and in 12 categories, some of the more
timely topics are Armed Conflict and the Peace
Process, Media and Information and Communication
Technologies and Gender and
Institutions.

We
are committed to constantly improving our
collection
We are
always trying to improve the collection and include
new resources that meet the needs of women
worldwide, with a strong commitment to giving
visibility to books published in the global south.
We carry materials from international organizations
and small presses in Africa, Asia, Latin America
and the Caribbean and focus strongly on four areas
of expertise:
✓
Women and peace-building
✓ Gender and development
✓ Sexual and reproductive rights
✓ Women's economic empowerment
